Matthew studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Robert Dean. He performs in opera and concert around the UK and abroad and has sung live on BBC Radio 3's In Tune. Since graduating in 2015 Matthew has made his European debut as Guglielmo at the Brigitta Festival, Estonia and has worked for some of the UK's leading opera companies, including Opera North (Billy Budd, Trial By Jury, Andrea Chénier & The Snowmaiden); Garsington Opera as an Alvarez Young Artist (L'Italiana in Algeri); Grange Park Opera, cover Abimélech (Samson et Dalila) & cover Ancindoro/Benoit (La Bohème); and Glyndebourne Education, Adonis (Venus and Adonis).

Most recently Matthew has sung Marcello (La Bohème) at Trafalgar Studios, London; Ned Keene (Peter Grimes), Dartington Festival under Sian Edwards; Fiorello and cover Figaro (The Barber of Seville), Iford Arts; Pish-Tush & The Mikado (The Mikado), Charles Court Opera; Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Devon opera; Count Robinson (Il Matrimonio Segreto), Pop-Up Opera.

A regular oratorio soloist, Matthew has performed much of the standard repertoire, as well as some lesser known pieces, including Messiah (Handel); St. Matthew Passion (Bach); Five Mystical Songs (Vaughan Williams); Ein Deutches Requiem (Brahms); The Seasons (Haydn); Nelson Mass (Haydn); Crucifixion (Stainer); Requiem (Mozart); Requiem (Fauré); Coronation Mass (Mozart); Messa di Gloria (Pucini); Messe Solennelle (Gounod); Passio (Pärt); Requiem da Camara (Finzi); Eternal Light Requiem (Goodall) and among others varying from new commissions to Bach Cantatas.

Matthew is a Concordia Foundation Artist and has performed at LSO St. Luke's, the Oxford Lieder Festival and St. Martin-in-the-Fields amongst others in recital and concert.
